		Diorio Collection 1978 Botanical Interpretation Paperweight

						Created in 1978, this "Botanical Interpretation Paperweight" from the Diorio Collection is 2 1/2" in diameter, and represents an excellent example of Paul's intuitive response to nature in the 1970s. This natural looking plant has intricately detailed white blossoms and buds with green leaves and a root system. The flameworked design is encased in fine quality clear crystal. This paperweight has a red and black "S" cane, and is inscribed "Botanical Interpretation A742 1978." It is also signed by Paul J. Stankard. This piece is documented on page 62 of the book Paul J. Stankard Homage to Nature by Ulysses Grant Dietz. For the Stankard collector, this paperweight exemplifies the creative skills that established Paul's career with the international glass community.
