		Diorio Collection 1972 Poinsettia Paperweight

						The Poinsettia Paperweight was the first in Stankard's American Floral Series. This limited edition 1972 paperweight from the Diorio Collection is 2 1/4" in diameter, and has a seven point star cut on the bottom. It features a deep red Poinsettia flower with green leaves encased in clear crystal. The success of the American Floral Series encouraged Stankard to leave the scientific glass blowing industry, and devote full time to paperweight making. The paperweight is identified with a black and white "S" cane, and inscribed "7/50 1972." It is also signed by Paul J. Stankard.
