Diorio Collection 1979 White Tea Rose Paperweight
This elegant 1979 "White Tea Rose" from the Diorio Collection was a prototype for a presentation to the Queen Mother on her 80th birthday by Spink and Son, Ltd. (London dealer and publisher of the book Flora in Glass Paperweights by Paul J. Stankard). This 2 3/4" diameter tea rose paperweight was an innovative interpretation of roses, and offers delicate white petals with raised yellow centers. It also has three buds with green leaves and realistic thorns on the flower stem. The entire work is encased in very clear crystal.

This design has a tiny black and white "S" cane, and is marked D401 1979." It is also signed by Paul J. Stankard. This paperweight is the same one documented on page 85 of the book Paul J. Stankard Homage to Nature by Ulysses Grant Dietz.
