PAUL J. STANKARD EARLY WORKS

1980 Jack-in-the-Pulpit Paperweight
This one-of-a-kind 1980 "Jack-in-the-Pulpit Paperweight" is 3" in diameter. It features a Jack-in-the-Pulpit flower with the characteristic three leaves. A mature stalk of red berries and yellow leaves along with a dark brown corm with off-white root system show the plant's maturity. The entire work is encased in high quality clear crystal.

The paperweight is signed "Paul J. Stankard," and marked "1980 Experimental " below a black and white "S" cane. The Jack-in-the-Pulpit is found on Stankard's woodland property, and is native to the eastern part of the United States.

This is a rare Stankard design. Fewer than ten were created in the early 1980s (three of which are shown on this Web site).
